Than Hsiang Foundation serves the people of Penang through Buddhist education and welfare — kindergartens, counselling and social support, and community health care — carrying on work that began in 1990. 檀香基金会自1990年起，以佛教教育与社会福利服务槟城社区。
In Their Own Words
Welcome to Than Hsiang Foundation. Our work began in January 1990 with the Than Hsiang Fund in Bayan Lepas, Penang. From the start we set out to promote Buddhist education, care for the welfare of our community and encourage a Buddhist way of life. We hold to one simple aim: that the young can learn, the strong and healthy can serve, the aged and sick are cared for, and the departed find their spiritual home. Today that means kindergartens and a Sunday Dharma School for children, a Buddhist research centre, and our Mitra Welfare Centre, which offers counselling through Mitra Line, case support for people who need help, and social education. Alongside these are the Wan Ching Yuen Centre and a clinic offering Chinese and Western medicine. Every ringgit you give goes to welfare and education work only.
