Payment processing
Every way a Malaysian donor actually pays
Online giving runs through CHIP, a Malaysian payment gateway — not a foreign processor bolted on afterwards. FPX, DuitNow QR, cards, e-wallets, and buy-now-pay-later, toggleable per campaign. MYR only, by design.
Wired end-to-end through CHIP
- FPX
- B2C and B2B1 online banking
- 9 methods
- toggleable per campaign
- MYR
- the only currency, product-wide
- s44(6)
- receipts issue on completed gifts
- 4 manual methods
- cash, cheque, bank transfer, other
The methods, named
Cards, banking, wallets, and buy-now-pay-later
A donor sees whichever methods you've switched on for that campaign. Nothing is hidden behind a generic 'other' button — each one is a real, wired CHIP payment method, not a placeholder.
- FPX online banking — B2C and B2B1 (business accounts)
- DuitNow QR, GrabPay, Touch 'n Go eWallet, ShopeePay
- Visa, Mastercard, and Maestro cards
- Atome (buy-now-pay-later), Apple Pay, Google Pay
Not every payment is a CHIP transaction
Cash, cheque, and bank transfer are payment methods too
A counter gift or a direct bank transfer does not touch CHIP at all — staff record it manually, choosing cash, cheque, bank transfer, or a general 'other' as the payment method. It is stored on the same donation record as an online FPX or card payment, so it shows up in the same donor history and the same reports.
- Cash, cheque, bank transfer, and other, available for manual entry
- A reference number field for the bank slip or cheque, used for reconciliation
- Bulk CSV upload to record a batch of past manual donations against one campaign at once
Recurring giving
Monthly, quarterly, or yearly — by card token
A donor can set up a repeating gift, charged automatically by a cron job running twice a day. That path is card-only today: a donor who pays by FPX, DuitNow QR, or an e-wallet can give, but can't yet set up a subscription on that method — only a tokenized card can.
- Monthly, quarterly, or yearly frequencies
- Card-token charges run automatically, twice daily
- Card-expiry and dormancy reminder emails sent to donors
- FPX / QR / e-wallet donors: one-off gifts only, not subscriptions
Settlement you don't have to chase
A webhook alone doesn't mark a gift complete
Wallet payments can report 'paid' on a webhook before the money actually settles. DonorCARE re-queries CHIP's own API before confirming, and a recurring sweep re-checks anything left pending for more than 48 hours — so a gift that stalls gets flagged instead of silently sitting as paid.
- Webhook events re-verified against CHIP's API before confirming a gift
- 48-hour sweep re-checks and flags stalled settlements
- Bank statement reconciliation ties CHIP settlement data to your bank records
Frequently asked questions
Most of our donations are cash at the counter. Is this only for online giving?
No. Cash, cheque, and bank transfer are payment methods in DonorCARE too — not just CHIP's online rails. Staff record a counter gift the same way they'd record an FPX payment: pick the method, enter the amount, and it's saved on the same donation record as everything else, with a reference-number field for the bank slip or cheque.
Some of our donors are elderly and do not use banking apps or smartphones. What do they do?
They give the way they already do: cash at the counter, or a bank transfer someone keys in on their behalf. Staff record it as a cash or bank-transfer payment, and it is tracked exactly like an online gift. For donors who have a phone but no banking app, a DuitNow QR image and bank-transfer details are shown as a fallback on the donate page itself.
What happens if an e-invoice submission to LHDN fails?
It does not get silently retried and forgotten. Rejected MyInvois submissions (Enterprise plan) surface in the admin's Needs Attention queue and the Compliance dashboard, with the rejection reason attached, so someone can fix the underlying data and resubmit.
Can I accept payments in a currency other than ringgit?
No. DonorCARE is MYR only, across the whole product. There's no multi-currency mode.
Can a donor set up a recurring gift by FPX or e-wallet?
Not today. Recurring charges run on a tokenized card only. FPX, DuitNow QR, and e-wallet donors can give, but each gift is one-off.
What happens if a wallet payment reports paid but the money never settles?
It doesn't get marked complete on the webhook alone — the system checks CHIP's own record first, and a 48-hour sweep catches anything left stuck in between.
