Compare and save organizations

Save directory listings to a list and compare up to three organizations side by side.

Save the organizations you are considering and line up to three of them side by side before you decide where to give.

No account needed. Saved organizations and your comparison are kept on the device you are using. If you sign in, your saved list follows you and anything already saved to your account is not replaced.

  1. Find the organization in the directory (Find an organization in the directory).
  2. Select the heart on its row, card or page. The heart fills in and its label changes to Saved. Select it again to remove the organization from your list.
  3. To see your list, open Saved in the directory header. The page is called Saved Organizations.

On that page, signed-out visitors see: “These are saved on this device. Sign in and they follow you — nothing you have already saved to your account is replaced.” Select Sign in to link the list to your account. An empty list reads “You have not saved any organizations yet.” and explains: “Use the heart on any listing to keep it here. Only you can see this list.”

  1. Select the compare button (labeled Compare when you hover over it) on a row, card or listing page. When you have added one, a bar appears at the bottom of the screen listing your picks.
  2. Add up to three. Each pick in the bar has an X to remove it, and Clear empties the bar.
  3. Select Compare selected (it shows how many you have picked) to open the Compare organizations page.
  4. Read across the rows. The page says: “Fields we have never been given read “Not recorded” — that is not the same as “no”.” The rows include Category, Location, Established, Registration no., Tax-deductible, Contact channels, Accepting donations on DonorCARE, Claim status, Contact email confirmed and Registration checked vs SSM/ROS. The last two are explained in Understand a directory listing.

You can also pick organizations for comparison from your saved list: select compare on the rows there, then Compare selected.

What you see What it means What to do
“You can compare 3 organizations at a time. Remove [name] to add another.” Your comparison is full. Remove one with the X in the bar, then add the new one.
“That did not save. Please try again.” Saving to your account did not go through. Select the heart again.
“You have reached the maximum number of saved organizations.” Your saved list is full. Remove one you no longer need, then save again.
“Nothing selected to compare.” You opened the compare page with no organizations picked. Select Browse the directory and add organizations with the compare button.
“One listing could not be loaded and was left out of the comparison.” (or “[n] listings could not be loaded…”) A picked listing is no longer available. Compare the rest, or pick another.
