What we store about you
Giving to an appeal creates a record with your name and enough detail for the organisation to send you a receipt — held by the organisation you gave to, and not shared with organisations you haven’t given to.
Why it works this way
Section titled “Why it works this way”DonorCARE is used by many separate organisations. Each one only ever sees its own donors and its own donations — never another organisation’s — because the platform keeps every organisation’s records apart by design. A receipt or a donation history entry belongs to the organisation that issued it, not to DonorCARE itself and not to any other organisation using the platform.
The terms
Section titled “The terms”Donation record — the name, contact details, amount, date and payment method captured when you give, plus an identity number, tax number and address if you asked for a tax receipt or an e-Invoice.
Receipt — a document generated from your donation record that the organisation keeps as proof of your gift, and that you can use for your own records or a tax claim.
What this means in practice
Section titled “What this means in practice”Do
- Expect the organisation you gave to, and DonorCARE as the platform it runs on, to keep your donation details for as long as receipts, tax records and reporting require.
- Ask the organisation directly if you want to see, correct or ask about what they hold on you.
Don’t
- Expect an organisation you’ve never given to, to see your name or your giving history — your record belongs only to the organisation you gave it to.
Worked example
Section titled “Worked example”Wei Ling donates to Organisation A in January and Organisation B in March, both on DonorCARE. Organisation A can see everything about her January gift and issue her receipt for it. Organisation B can see everything about her March gift. Neither organisation can see the other’s record of her.
Asking about your data
Section titled “Asking about your data”For anything about what a specific organisation holds on you — correcting a detail, asking what they keep, or requesting it be removed — contact that organisation directly (see Contact the organisation you gave to). For questions about how the DonorCARE platform itself handles your data, email support@donorcare.my.
