What's on a campaign page

What each part of a campaign page means, from the amount raised to the Donate button in each state.

A campaign page tells you what the appeal is for, how far along it is, and how to give. This page explains each part so you know what you’re looking at before you donate.

No account needed to read a campaign page or to donate. Organizations choose what to show, so some parts below may be missing on a given campaign.

  • The campaign name, with small labels beside it: Active (taking donations) or Completed (finished), a category such as Healthcare & Medical, and a type — One-Time Campaign, Ongoing Campaign or Emergency Appeal.
  • Tax Deductible — shown only when the organization has marked this campaign as one you may claim against Malaysian income tax. It’s decided per campaign, so don’t assume it from the organization. See When a donation is tax-deductible.
  • The organization block — the organization’s name, its location, and a View Profile button to read its page. See Read an organization’s page. It isn’t shown when you’re already reading the page on the organization’s own website.
  • Photos — the campaign’s main image and any gallery images.

If the organization shows its progress, a panel shows:

You see What it means
RM … raised of RM … goal The money raised so far, against the target the organization set
funded The raised amount as a percentage of the goal
donations How many donations have been made
donors How many people have given
days left Days until the campaign’s end date
— and ended The end date has passed
Ongoing and no end date The campaign has no end date

Under the figures, a progress bar marks the way with Getting Started (0%), Picking Up! (25%), Halfway There! (50%), Almost There! (75%) and Goal Reached! (100%). The page doesn’t say exactly which donations are counted in the raised amount. If you need to know, ask the organization. See Contact the organization you gave to. Some organizations hide this panel; the campaign page then has no figures.

Below the photos, tabs let you read more:

  • About — About This Campaign, plus Location, Who We’re Helping, Total Beneficiaries, What We Aim to Achieve and Their Story where the organization has filled them in.
  • Beneficiary — appears only when the organization has listed who the campaign helps.
  • Updates — news the organizer has posted, with Read More for long posts. If there are none, you’ll see “No Updates Yet”.
  • FAQ — questions and answers under Frequently Asked Questions. If there are none, you’ll see “No FAQs Available”.
  • Contact — the name, title, email and phone of the Person in Charge & Contact, if the organization has added one.

On the right (below the page on a phone), the Donate tab is where you give. Some campaigns list giving options under Choose a Program (“Select a program to support”); you pick one, then choose an amount. Each option can show how many of its target have been taken, such as “12/50”, and Goal Completed once it’s full. The step-by-step is in Make a donation.

The Wall of Love tab shows messages other donors have left. Before anyone has, it says “No Messages Yet” and “Be the first to share your message of support!”

Dharma events look a little different: instead of an amount you choose offerings, with a Merit Registration Summary that lists your Selected Offerings, Total Entries and Total Amount.

The campaign is… You see What happens
Taking donations, nothing chosen yet A grayed button reading Select a program first or Select an amount Choose an option or amount to unlock it

Finished Campaign Ended (dharma events: Event Ended), with the message “Campaign Completed — This campaign has ended. Thank you to all donors for your support!” You can’t donate; the page stays open to read
Not yet taking online donations “Online donations are not available yet.” and no Donate button Contact the organization

A campaign counts as ended once its status is completed or its end date has passed.
