Manage donor tax profiles
A donor’s tax profile holds the identity number, TIN and address a tax-deductible receipt or e-invoice needs — here’s how to add one, validate it, and read the state it’s in.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Tax profile fields only appear on a donor’s Edit page and profile when your plan includes MyInvois e-invoicing.
- You’ll need at least the donor’s identity type and number to start a profile; an email or phone is required too, since LHDN e-invoicing needs a way to reach the donor.
-
Open the donor’s profile and select Edit Donor. The Tax & Identification section sits below the donor’s basic details.

-
Choose the Identity Type — NRIC, Passport, Business Registration, or Army ID — then enter the matching Identity No.
-
Enter the TIN if you have one, and select Validate to check it against LHDN’s records. A company TIN (starting with “C”) must be paired with Business Registration as the identity type — DonorCARE stops you before you save a combination LHDN would later reject.

-
Fill in the address — both lines, postcode, city and state. This is required for e-invoicing, not just for the receipt.
-
Select Save Changes. If the donor’s basic details changed too, both save in one step and one confirmation covers both.
The validation states
Section titled “The validation states”| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| “No tax profile yet” | Nothing has been entered for this donor. A tax-deductible receipt or e-invoice can’t be issued until you add one. |
| TIN shown, no badge | A TIN is on file but hasn’t been checked against LHDN yet. It can still be edited or corrected. |
| Green “Verified” badge | The TIN has been checked and matched against the identity type and number on file. The Identity No. and TIN fields lock to stop an accidental edit from silently invalidating the match. |
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| “Company TIN (C-prefix) requires Business Reg (BRN) identity type” | You’re validating a company TIN against a personal identity type. | Change Identity Type to Business Registration, then validate again. |
| Fields are greyed out and won’t accept input | The TIN is already Verified, and edits are locked to protect a checked match. | Change the Identity Type (even briefly) to unlock the fields, then correct the value and validate again. |
