Make a campaign tax-deductible

The two steps that turn on tax-deductible receipts for a campaign.

Who can do this Owner, Admin, Member

Two things both have to be true before a campaign’s donations can be treated as tax-deductible: your organization’s own tax-exemption status, and this campaign’s own switch.

This page tells you where each setting lives and what it changes. It isn’t tax advice — check with LHDN or your accountant about whether your organization qualifies and what your donors can claim.

  • Your organization’s Tax Exemption Status must show Approved, in Organization Settings > Compliance. If it doesn’t, the campaign-level toggle described below won’t appear at all.
  1. Confirm your organization’s tax-exemption status. In DonorCARE, open Organization Settings, then the Compliance tab, and check that Tax Exemption Status shows Approved. If it shows anything else (Pending, Not Applied, Expired or Not Eligible), the toggle in step 2 is hidden — get this approved first.

  2. Turn on the campaign’s own switch. Open the campaign, select the Settings tab, and turn on Tax Deductible Campaign. This field only appears once your organization’s status is Approved.

  3. Save. From now on, every new donation you record against this campaign has its tax-deduction fields switched on automatically, and its receipt is generated as a tax-deductible receipt.

What you see What it means What to do
There’s no “Tax Deductible Campaign” toggle in Settings Your organization’s tax-exemption status isn’t Approved yet Get it approved in Organization Settings > Compliance, then check the campaign’s Settings tab again
An older donation on this campaign still isn’t marked tax-deductible Turning the campaign switch on only changes donations recorded after you turn it on — it doesn’t rewrite donations you already took Open that donation and turn on its own tax-deduction fields by hand, if it qualifies
A donor says their receipt doesn’t show tax-deduction details The donation may have been recorded before you turned the campaign switch on, or its own tax-deduction fields were left off Check the donation record and turn its tax-deduction fields on, then re-send the receipt
