Your sample campaign
DonorCARE seeds a new organisation with sample campaigns and sample donations so there’s something real to click through on day one — and it hands you a one-click way to remove them before you take real money.
Why it works this way
Section titled “Why it works this way”An empty dashboard doesn’t teach you anything about how DonorCARE works. So the moment your organisation finishes onboarding, DonorCARE clones a small set of sample campaigns — matched to whether your organisation runs Dharma or ritual events, or general fundraising — complete with their own sample donations. You can open one, see how a donation record looks, and see what a real receipt looks like, before a single donor has given. Seeding only happens once: if your organisation already had any campaign at onboarding, nothing is added.
The terms
Section titled “The terms”Sample campaign — a campaign DonorCARE created for you, marked internally so the platform always knows it isn’t real. Sample campaigns never appear in the public NPO directory, and their donations never send confirmation emails or get submitted to LHDN as e-invoices.
Sample donation — a donation belonging to a sample campaign. Everywhere except e-invoicing, it behaves exactly like a real completed donation.
What this means in practice
Section titled “What this means in practice”Do
- Remove sample data before you trust a dashboard total or export figure. Sample donations are ordinary completed donations to DonorCARE’s dashboard and finance exports — they are not automatically excluded.
Don’t
- Confuse a sample donation with a sandbox test donation. A sandbox test purchase (a separate, DonorCARE-enabled toggle for rehearsing your own checkout) is watermarked “DEMO” and is kept out of your dashboard and exports automatically. A sample donation carries no such protection.
A banner naming how many sample campaigns exist appears wherever you would otherwise see an empty state, with a Remove sample data action right on it. You can also remove sample data from the Danger Zone section of your organisation’s settings. Either way, removing it deletes the sample campaigns, their donations, and any demo-donor links created for them — your real templates and settings are never touched, and the action can’t be undone.
Worked example
Section titled “Worked example”Your organisation is seeded with two sample campaigns and eleven sample donations totalling RM2,340. Until you remove them, your dashboard’s “Total raised” figure and your finance exports both include that RM2,340 alongside any real donations you’ve since taken — which is exactly why the setup and go-live checklists tell you to clear sample data before relying on either.
Related
Section titled “Related”Screenshots use sample data. Every screen on this page is captured against a demo organisation seeded with generated donors, amounts, receipt numbers and campaigns. Any resemblance to a real person or organisation is coincidental.
